All about images: finding, sizing, and saving
Finding an image:
- You CANNOT use wire images for Newsy stories- which means you AP, Getty, Reuters, etc. images are out of the question.
- AP and Getty seem to claim every photo on the interwebs- but fear not, you can find a NON-WIRE image if you look hard enough.
- You CAN use newspapers, news networks, individuals, businesses, agencies, etc. as sources.
- When you find an image to use, copy the link and paste it into your Google Doc.

- You're most likely to find an image from a local newspaper or TV station. For world stories, try searching for newspapers in the area that you're writing about. For example, search "Berlin newspapers". Almost all the major news networks use wire images.
- Think outside the box. If you're looking for an image on The Tea Party, go to a Tea Party website instead of just searching news sites.
Using Creditor to Format Your Image
- If you're using a Newsy computer, you'll most likely find the program "Creditor" on your dock.
- If you're on your personal laptop, log on to the server and go to Video Storage. Drag the Creditor app onto your computer.
- Make sure you have found an image to use for your story and it is saved on your desktop

To save these images to your computer, click Export Images and name the images DATESLUG. They will show up on your desktop, or wherever you saved them to. The next step is to move those images into your folder on the server. When you complete your Admin, you will add all five photos into the appropriate spots in your story. Please see the Admin tutorial to see exactly where these images go.
